Shower Steamer Humor

February 2, 2019

I’ve been making a few spa items to use as marketing tools.  I’ve done the research, watched the video tutorials and ordered the supplies. (I now have a 15 lb. bag of baking soda… meant to order a 5 lb. bag.)

Shower Steamers are mini bursts of fragrance for your shower. It can help you relax and give you that 10 minutes of luxury, alone-time that we all need.  I call it deliberate self-care. Just drop one or two on the bottom of your shower and as the water hits it, the lovely aroma is released. It all goes down the drain – no fuss, no mess! All natural ingredients.

My first attempt wasn’t completely successful, but hey – it’s like a recipe – you must make it again and again to find the right combination of ingredients.

Once the steamers are in the molds, they must sit 24 hours. When they are removed from the molds they must sit another 12 hours before packaging.  It’s a lengthy process.

The instructions I followed emphasized repeatedly the importance of mixing each ingredient well using a whisk and a spatula. So, that’s what I did.

My first attempt used eucalyptus and spearmint. The color is much darker than I want and the scent, well I need more opinions.

The Humor

I made the steamers, cleaned up, ran all utensils through the dishwasher and waited.  Remember, they must sit 24 hours before taking them out of the molds.

The following day, I unmold them.  The scent is STRONG. I put them in my craft room and close the door.

R E A L L Y   S T R O N G!

Denis (my husband) comes home from work and politely says, what’s that smell. I explain. He’s trying to be kind, but eventually says, that smell is killing me!

I moved the steamers into the garage because they were so strong. He says, “I hope that scent doesn’t get into my fishing lures!”

And then, he say, “The eggs I had this morning tasted just like that smell, couldn’t even finish them.”  Hmmmmm. After a little investigation, turns out we used the same spatula! It was funny as it was happening and that spatula? It’s now forever in my craft box!

I’ll be sending some home with those who would like to try them with a short survey. I need more opinions on how they work for you.
