Interesting Facts About Massage

March 3, 2020

Would you agree that massage makes you feel better? I think most would… unless you’re my husband, who doesn’t like it at all. (Yes, he knows I call him crazy!)

Massage therapy continues to gain support in the medical community for its documented benefits.

Emotional Benefits:

Decreased anxiety/depression

Increased feelings of well-being

Being pleasantly distracted

Improved body self-image

Satisfaction of actively participating in health maintenance

General Benefits:

Deep relaxation

Reduced stress

Improved sleep

Increased mental clarity

Reduced anxiety

Reduced pain

The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) says:

  • 62 percent of adult Americans who had a massage between July 2017 and July 2018 received it for medical or health reasons such as pain management, injury rehabilitation, or overall wellness.

  • 48 percent of consumers received a massage during the same time period for soreness, stiffness/spasms.

  • 44 percent of consumers received a massage during the same time period for pain relief/management.

  • 88 percent agree that massage can be effective in reducing pain.

  • 66 percent of consumers had a massage for relaxation/stress reduction during the same time period.

The facts tell it all… most of us love massage. More and more people are recognizing the benefits of regular massage. I recommend a monthly massage and practice what I preach.

Massage benefits are accumulative. When you receive massage regularly, the benefits compound and you will find less pain, less stress and anxiety and a sense of well-being. It will also assist your body with injury and overuse.

When was your last massage?  I recommend a minimum of a massage every month.

Give me a call (501-915-4012) or schedule on-line.  I’d love to help you lead a healthier, happier, more relaxed life… one massage at a time!
