I’m back in the pond so to speak… And, I’m choosing to be a beautiful pink flamingo instead of a small, gray pigeon.
Can you picture it?
Today started my journey back into contract work with a local hospice agency – but more importantly – I’m once again assisting those on hospice care using gentle-touch massage!
I saw a non-verbal Alzheimer’s patient who smiled when I took her hand and then squeezed my hand. Then, a beautiful lady who was paralyzed on one side of her body due to a stroke and was having neck and back pain. And the third, a lovely lady suffering from kidney disease who had severe pain in her neck.
They all experienced comfort, rest, relaxation and pain relief. What an honor!
Yep, it’s truly my passion. I had the privilege of seeing these lovely ladies spread across rural Hot Springs.
When in Dallas, the traffic between locations slowed me, but here, it’s the distance that takes the time. I must say I don’t miss the traffic and the scenery here is breathtaking – even in the midst of winter.

So, what’s with the Flamingo reference?
This was posted on a bulletin board across from one of the patient rooms. I can tell it’s been there a long time. Notice the fading and staining – and a small smiley face someone added. It’s intended to brighten the day and provide motivation… it worked!
I’ll continue to strive to be a beautiful pink flamingo. Will you join me?
