Has your mind ever wandered into a place it shouldn't?

During our current state of isolation my mind wanders more and more – I sometimes find it hard to focus.
Can you relate?
I was visiting with a dear friend earlier today. I explained our current situation as a, “head shaker”. Which means I shake my head and respond, “I don’t know” or “I don’t get it”, or give a puzzled look as I shake my head and shrug my shoulders.
I’m sure you understand my point. I have trouble focusing on specific tasks before me.
As you think about the task of providing gentle-touch massage for someone who is hurting, do you find it hard to stay focused… stay present with your person?
If you find your mind on something else, I encourage you to reel it in, bring your focus back on the person you are touching.
They will feel your undivided attention – it’s what I call being present. The act of intentionally and deliberately being there for another.
When you are able to focus – and I mean really focus – on what your hands are doing, the love and compassion you have for your person is felt – not only through your hands, but through your heart.
Think about the last task you did half-heartedly. Your thoughts were elsewhere. You weren’t focused, intentional or deliberate. You weren’t really present for the task. And the results showed, right?
Your person deserves your full attention AND you deserve the benefits you receive when being fully in the game.
Give it a try the next time you provide a gentle-touch massage. Bring your mind out of the…! I’d LOVE to hear how it goes.
