How are you and how are things going in your part of the world? I hope you and your family are healthy and safe. Denis and I are moving about more than we used to – have visited a few restaurants and stores other than grocery stores. We continue to practice social distancing when able and always wear our masks to protect others.
I find myself lamenting, “I’m SOOO ready for things to get back to normal.” And then, I usually follow it up with something like, “If there IS such a thing!” My advice to myself and others is to continue to be your best and do your best. Find the positive in the situation – there’s ALWAYS something for which to be thankful!
I’m providing massage on a much smaller scale (one day per week) in a neighboring city. My hospice work has not returned, but I’m still hopeful it will.
During this “downtime”, I’m determined to stay busy. I’m working on a few things that I hope you find interesting:
- MASK MAKING: Our 3 granddaughters recently stayed with us for a few nights. We usually find some crafty-thing to work on while we’re together. As I reflect on the project we completed, I find it a little sad. They asked me to make them new masks. They were excited about selecting matching fabric from my stash. Yes, the masks are needed and have become quite the fashion statement, but still…. I find it a little sad that I made them ‘masks’. However, on a lighter note, if it keeps others safe, it’s all worth it. I also made myself a new one and think of them when I wear it.
- WEB SITE REVAMP: I’m working with a branding expert who is helping me determine a “feel” for my business. This is the color palette we’re working with right now. What do you think? There will be new colors, new fonts and new motifs throughout the site. I’m super excited about it and eager for you to see it!
- NEW DIGITAL COURSE: I’m putting the finishing touches on a new digital course, “A Guide for Massage Therapists: How to Provide Massage in Home and Care Facilities”. This course will allow massage therapists to receive Continuing Ed hours for the course once it’s approved by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB).
- ANOTHER DIGITAL COURSE: “A Guide for Professionals: How to Provide Massage in Home and Care Facilities”. This course will provide Continuing Ed hours for RNs, CNAs and other professionals. These courses are helping others provide comfort, rest and relaxation to those who are hurting physically and emotionally.
- QUILTS: I recently completed this quilt for Jolene, my dear mother-in-law. This one has a great story. See the large white stars? Jolene gave me these stars years ago and said, “when you need a project, please do something with these”. HER mother made them many, many years earlier.
I finally pulled them out and completed this quilt for her. I gave it to her for her birthday last month. She loves it and was so very grateful. Good, good memories!
- EXERCISE: I’m trying to get some exercise in most days. My regular exercise group was halted because of COVID, but I’m determined to stay active. I’ve had my stand-up paddle board out once. Geez… I had a hard time balancing on it this year. Need to get it out more often!
Enough about me. Would love to hear how things are going for you and what you’re doing to stay busy and active. Just hit reply, or join my Private Facebook Community. A safe place to talk candidly about massage, caregiving, motivation and how to do this thing we call life.
Thank you, my friends. As always, I so appreciate your love and support!
