5 Ways to Savor Your Massage Experience

December 2, 2017

What is your Massage Experience? Receiving a good massage is the best thing I do for myself.

E V E R Y   S I N G L E   T I M E  I receive a massage – a good massage that fits my needs – I say to myself,

“Everyone should have an experience like this.”

It’s hands-down, the best thing I do for myself.

How do I savor my massage experience?

  1. Bask in the feeling of relaxation – allow yourself time to soak it in. I generally go for my regular massage early in the morning – 9:00 am for a 90-minute session. I leave my phone in the car – no buzzing and no distractions. After leaving the massage, I sit in my car for a few minutes and think about how my body feels right here, right now.
  2. Schedule your next massage – I have my 9:00am appointment scheduled every month for several months out.  There is little that makes me change my appointment. It is priority for me and I look forward to my next appointment while I’m sitting there in my car AND all month long!
  3. Take home the scent of the massage room. Is there a certain smell that reminds you of your massage? Maybe an essential oil, bath salt or topical muscle relaxer that helped? Take those things home and recreate a mini-retreat whenever possible.
  4. Take a hot bath. A hot bath or shower will relax your muscles even more and give you an uninterrupted opportunity to think about your massage experience.
  5. Sip a cup of your favorite beverage. Take time to deliberately relish in the relaxation before jumping in to daily activities. It allows your body, mind and spirit to enjoy the relaxed state a little longer.

Massage… it’s good for you and should be a regular part of your preventative health care.
