I’m not an aromatherapist by any stretch of the imagination, but I know which scents I like and lavender has to be my favorite. Lavender is known for is relaxing benefits.
And, for stress reduction, lavender is always my first choice. When used in aromatherapy, lavender oil is reported to reduce stress by relaxing the brain waves, which is also said to reduce cortisol levels that contribute to the stress hormone. Lavender supports the immune system by helping relieve feelings of stress that can weaken health. Due to its calming and relaxing properties, it can work as a sleep aid for those suffering from insomnia.
Lavender oil is one of the most versatile essential oils. The fragrance is relaxing and calming.
My 5 top suggestions for using it:
- Massage Lotion – add 2-3 drops of Lavender Essential Oil to 4-6 ounces of your favorite lotion. Rub lotion on arms, legs and feet. Enjoy the relaxing scent and the hydration to your skin.
- Oil Diffuser – add a few drops of Lavender Essential Oil to a diffuser to infuse the sweet scent throughout your room or office for continual stress management.
- Hot Bath – There is something very special about setting aside a specific time for a hot bath. Make it special. Warm the room, fill the tub, light a few candles and add 5-10 drops of Lavender Essential Oil to the water. Relax and feel the stress melt away.
- Pillow Case – Rub a few drops of Lavender Essential oil between your palms and then spread over your pillow case. Your room will be filled with the calming scent. Enjoy as you drift off to sleep.
- Stressful Moments – Rub 2-3 dops of lavender oil in your palms and inhale deeply as if trying to get the scent all the way to your brain. This can be done discreetly if you are in a public setting.
Please let me know if you try any of these suggestions and how they worked for you. Stress reduction is important and lavender is one small way to assist.
As always, would LOVE to hear from you!
